A dental bridge is a cosmetic dentistry treatment that is used to cover the space left when there are one or more teeth missing.
A traditional bridge is where the bridge is supported by natural teeth and is made up of two or more crowns. This type of bridge is constructed of porcelain or ceramics. A resin-bonded bridge is supported by porcelain or metal framework.
When preparing for a dental bridge, the dentist will need to get images and impressions which are used to make sure everything fits in place perfectly. These impressions will be the model for the dental lab to create the bridge. In the meantime, you will have a temporary bridge to wear to protect your teeth and gums. It usually takes a few weeks to create your permanent bridge, and then you will have your second appointment. At this appointment, your temporary bridge will be removed, and your new permanent bridge will be installed. Dr. Murphy will check for the proper fit and make sure the bite is correct.
A dental bridge not only helps your smile look better, it also protects your oral health in the future. Dental bridges can help to maintain the shape of your face and keep remaining teeth from moving or shifting out of their natural position. It can help with your speech and the ability to chew properly. Your bite will be corrected, and it can restore your beautiful smile.
